RTI First Appeal
Here are the steps on how to file a first appeal under Section 19(1) of the RTI Act:
Identify the First Appellate Authority (FAA). The FAA is the officer who is responsible for hearing appeals against decisions of the Public Information Officer (PIO). The name and address of the FAA can be found on the website of the concerned State Information Commission (SIC).
File your appeal in writing. Your appeal should be written in a clear and concise manner. It should state the reasons why you are appealing the decision of the PIO and the relief that you are seeking.
Provide all relevant information. Your appeal should provide all relevant information, such as the date of your RTI application, the name of the PIO, the decision of the PIO, and the reasons for your appeal.
File your appeal within 30 days of receiving the decision of the PIO.
Send your appeal by post or hand it over in person to the FAA.
Keep a copy of your appeal for your records.
